VMU PRO SAVE PACK — ACTUAL GAME TESTS 24 October 2026 Start with FLYCAST-RESULTS.html. It lists the exact cards, game builds, observed results and screenshots. “Loaded” means the actual game accepted the save or displayed its expected saved settings, scores, profile, progress or unlocks. The detailed result identifies which of those was observed. It does not prove every source description, every game level, or future saving. No physical Dreamcast or VMU Pro was available for this test run. There is no honest universal compatibility guarantee. The procedure below establishes the specific card/game/firmware combination on your own hardware. INSTALL THE TESTED SELECTION 1. Back up your SD card. Extract the full ZIP on your computer. 2. Copy the Dreamcast folder INSIDE Emulator-Tested to the SD root, merging folders without overwriting your own cards. Example: /Dreamcast/TEST_Sega_Swirl_Record32/TEST_Sega_Swirl_Record32-26.vmu Use the supplied folder and filename for each chosen card. Each full-card image is 131,072 bytes. Folder and filename prefix must match, with a -number channel suffix and .vmu extension. 3. In VMU Pro Settings > VMU Options, disable Enable GameID and Enable DisplayID for the first manual test. In VMU Browser choose the intended channel, Clone Channel, then Mount the clone. Dock it in controller A, socket 1. 4. Launch the release identified in the result. Match the region AND revision; a renamed folder cannot convert one game's save format into another. 5. Use that game's load menu, and inspect the expected state recorded in the report. A visible VMU icon or a boot to the title screen is insufficient. 6. On the clone, make a small recognizable change and use the game's normal save procedure. Wait for writing to finish. 7. Fully restart the console. Mount the same clone again, reload and verify that the change survived. Record disc ID, revision, firmware, card/channel and result. Retain the untouched original channel as your recovery copy. IMPORTANT LOAD STEPS FOUND DURING TESTS - Marvel vs. Capcom: OPTION > BACKUP > LOAD > controller A/socket 1 > Yes. A normal boot alone did not restore this candidate's options. Use BACKUP > SAVE to write changed options. Candidate 7 passed an actual cold-restart check: changed difficulty 1 to 2, saved, restarted and manually loaded 2. - Championship Surfer candidate 1 is SURFING1.SAV, a SETTINGS file. Use Settings > Load Settings > controller A/socket 1. “Settings loaded” was observed. It does not create a game slot in Load Game; .GAM progress files are different. Beach-unlock claims were not verified for that settings test. - Armada: the initial selector may highlight empty A2. Select A1 for the campaign and again for the saved character. Candidate 1 exposes MILES, Level 44 Terran, with the campaign state listed in the test record. - Mortal Kombat Gold was tested on USA Rev 1 (V1.006), not the earlier disc. Use Load Configuration. Do not generalize its result to all revisions. - Headhunter candidate 23 loaded in Europe Disc 2. Its source's USA label was not verified. The game created H_HUNTER.SYS while loading H_HUNTER.002; the original progress payload was unchanged. - Sega Swirl: TEST_Sega_Swirl_Record32 contains six converted alternatives, channels 1, 2, 5, 10, 16 and 26. They expand older 24-byte score records to 32-byte records while preserving each name, score and auxiliary value. This is a game-data layout conversion, not a filename or region change. Use the conversion that matches your build, keeping the originals. The tested executable came from a community repack and was booted through a documented derived wrapper; the game/OS executable bytes were unchanged. Retail distribution and region mappings were not established. Original candidate 4 has anomalous score/level values and is not recommended. READ THE RESULTS AT THE RIGHT LEVEL - Game-load pass: the exact imported card was read successfully in the game. Some tests reached actual 3D gameplay; others verified settings/unlocks. - Load and write: a normal in-game save completed; cold restart may be untested. - Changed-setting cold restart: the changed value was seen after a new emulator process and a normal reload. This is stronger than merely seeing a Save OK. - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: load, write and cold-reload acceptance were seen, and written bytes persisted. The changed difficulty was NOT revisited in the final options screen, so it is not counted as a fully observed changed- setting cold-restart test. - Did not load in tested build: expected state was absent in that exact build. Mars Matrix's Japanese-internal-name candidate did not load in the USA game; that does not show it is broken in the Japanese release. - Roadsters candidate 1 was not recognized by USA T22901N: A1 was selected and scanned, but the game reported No saved files found. This is an exact- release result, not a diagnosis of region, checksum or companion cause. - Inconclusive: navigation, emulation or evidence did not establish success or rejection. Keep the candidate's status open instead of labeling it corrupt. ORIGINAL COLLECTION AND CONVERSIONS The original main, optional and unverified sets remain unchanged. Their old catalog classifications record STATIC file checks. Some nonstandard CRC saves were subsequently accepted by games; the individual runtime result takes precedence for that exact tested card/build. Untested variants are still untested. Never “repair” a checksum simply because it differs from a generic VMS formula. Some games deliberately use a zero or nonstandard field. The tested selection contains duplicate copies for convenience, plus six new Swirl conversions. Duplicate copies do not increase unique game/save coverage. The Swirl conversion zeroes new name padding and trailing allocation padding; it preserves all 40 semantic records but is not byte-identical to its source. Its original cards, detailed provenance and conversion script remain available. The test addendum contains results and screenshots, not game discs or BIOS. All tests used ordinary controller input and save-file copies; no game memory was patched to fabricate progress or unlocks. AFTER A MANUAL HARDWARE TEST PASSES If you want automatic GameID mounting, use the actual ID sent by your loader. Remove dashes/spaces from that ID and use it for both the folder and filename prefix, e.g. /Dreamcast/ID/ID-1.vmu. Back up any existing ID folder first. Re-enable the appropriate detection and repeat the hardware load/save/restart check. DisplayID detection is approximate and can select a different card. The results list contains 43 previously uncertain English target titles, of which 43 received candidate trials. Historical retries, unresolved cases and untested titles remain explicit. This is not a test of the entire commercial Dreamcast library. EMULATOR FIRMWARE — 24 OCTOBER 2026 Tests used Flycast v2.7. Most trials used REIOS HLE; exact firmware and game builds are recorded in each title's detailed report. Railroad Tycoon II PAL (T40505D 50) requires a real Dreamcast BIOS in this Flycast version. A REIOS boot block before the campaign menu does not establish whether the save works. Use the firmware configuration recorded for any confirmed load. Firmware metadata may be retained; BIOS bytes are not included. ADDITIONAL DERIVED CARDS — 24 OCTOBER 2026 See each detailed result and its explicit conversion provenance. Original cards remain unchanged. Only the recorded derived card/build combinations are tested.
